Denisa Dobrovodová is a writer born and raised in Bratislava, Slovakia.
She wrote her debut novel, You Can’t Choose Your Family, at the age of twelve and saw it published in Slovakia in 2014. Before completing her MA in Art History and Film Studies at the University of St Andrews, she worked as a full-time journalist at a premier Slovak news outlet, aktuality.sk
Having recently completed the MSt in Creative Writing postgraduate course at the University of Oxford, Denisa's creative work crosses the boundaries of mediums and blurs the line between drama and comedy, exploring the complexities of the human psyche and intrapersonal relationships.
In February 2025, her debut play, The Getaway, was staged at the Burton Taylor Studio in Oxford. Denisa is a co-founder of Jamais Vu Productions and the current editor-in-chief of The Wellington Square.
